S355 steel to EN 10025-2: JR, J0 and J2 qualities, strength ranges and impact requirements.
EN 10025-2
Technical specifications
S355 structural steel to EN 10025-2 is used in hot-rolled products and welded fabrications. Strength requirements vary with thickness; the figures below state the applicable thickness ranges.
| Property | Specification |
|---|---|
| Reference standard | EN 10025-2 covers hot-rolled non-alloy structural products. |
| Quality examples | S355JR, S355J0 and S355J2. |
| Minimum yield strength | 355 MPa for nominal thicknesses ≤16 mm. |
| Tensile strength | 470–630 MPa for nominal thicknesses of 3–16 mm. |
| Charpy quality designations | JR: 27 J at +20 °C; J0: 27 J at 0 °C; J2: 27 J at −20 °C. |
Applications
Structural frames, beams, profiles and load-bearing fabrications.
Strength depends on thickness. Charpy values apply to full-size specimens; JR impact verification must be specified at enquiry/order.
